In her Time: The Final Bloom
We've walked down many paths over the last few months as my patterns came out to play, I really hope you grew with the WildKind collection just as I have. Have you fallen in love with any of the patterns? Did it start you on your journey of becoming who you are? Did you maybe find that missing piece you lost long ago?
The Queen of Sheba Orchid pans in from stage left
Have you ever seen the Queen of Sheba Orchid? Native to Western Australia and one of the state's most protected species (and one of the rarest plants on earth), these blooms are never allowed to be picked or transplanted. You can only view them in their natural habitat - they need a specific soil fungus to grow and cannot survive outside of that environment.
The beautiful orchid features shades of purple, blue, yellow, and red across four or five different variants. But here's the remarkable part: it takes between 7 to 10 years to bloom for the first time.
These flowers are hard to find. Their locations are never given away by explorers, photographers, or botanists who guard them fiercely. And thousands of people fswarm to Western Australia every year in hopes of spotting one of these beauties.
A Flower Worth Waiting For
Sometimes I feel like that's how life is too. We're in this constant pursuit - mostly of trying to find where we belong. But instead, we mostly find places where we can make ourselves fit, even when it's uncomfortable. And we stay because we feel like it's the closest we'll ever come.
WildKind took us on this journey where we stepped out of that uncomfortable "fit" and goaded us into finding ourselves - the people we were before the world told us who we should become. Sometimes this feels lonely, especially as each of our paths can be so vastly different.
But when we get to the end of that path and feel like we've found our feet - where to next?
The Pursuit of Belonging
That's when we need to plant ourselves in that specially formulated fungal soil that is made specifically for us. We need to let our roots grow deep and burrow into the soil so firmly that nobody can shake our foundations. And when we're finally formed in place and allow ourselves to bloom as brightly as the Queen of Sheba - that's when you open your eyes and finally take a look around.
There you'll find all those other brave, courageous people who took that same step you did, followed their path, and planted themselves too. And hey, look at that - we can all be ourselves and still have neighbours. Still have people we connect with. Not just fit with, but truly belong with.
Planting Deep Roots
In Her Time: The Pattern
Introducing In Her Time, featuring the Queen of Sheba. I know I said the final path was Slow Ripening, but this just seemed like such a natural progression of WildKind. It fit so perfectly, tying all the patterns together.
In Her Time weaves in perfectly, reflecting that each path has its own timeline. You are exactly where you need to be right now. Progression is still progression, no matter how slowly you're moving (just like the tortoise). We all have a place that is perfectly made for us - we find this when we let go of who we "should" be and just are the person we always were.
And of course, the icing on top: You are rare, just like the Queen of Sheba. There is nobody out there like you, and you need to give the world the opportunity to have the privilege of seeing you as you truly are. Some may need to travel from a million miles away, but those who are worthy will find you, planted deep within the soil that was made specifically for you to bloom.
Creating In Her Time felt different from the other patterns in the collection. This wasn't something I could rush or force - much like the Queen of Sheba herself, it needed to arrive exactly when it was meant to.
The colour palette mirrors the orchid's natural beauty: deep purples that speak to transformation, subtle blues representing trust and wisdom, warm yellows for joy and optimism. Each bloom is rendered with delicate detail, celebrating the intricate beauty that only patience can create. The pattern flows organically, with blooms nestled close together in an intimate dance - a reminder that while we each walk our own path, we bloom most beautifully when we finally plant ourselves.
A Bloom Seven Years in the Making
In Her Time is ready. It's growing. It's finding the people and businesses and spaces where it belongs.
The question is: are you?
