An Awakening Beneath the Surface
If you’ve been following along from the beginning, you’ll know that WildKind isn’t just a collection - it’s a shout into a world that loves to squeeze you into a box, a call to step out of comfort zones and stride confidently into your own shoes. But it’s also my story. My story of choosing me, every single time.
The moment I stepped into the wild , alone, a little scared to be seen, uncertain about what was ahead - I began this journey. (If you haven’t yet, I recommend starting from the first blog and working your way up - there’s a whole WildKind magic waiting for you.
With WildBloom, we took our first small, deliberate step away from the shining city lights and into the untamed jungle. Then came Untethered Blooms, loosening the ties of the city, giving ourselves the freedom to move, to breathe . The city lights grow dimmer behind us, whispering familiar comforts, tempting us to return. But Wild Whispers call louder , urging us deeper into the unknown - to fill the shoes we were born to wear rather than the ones handed to us.
This is my story of stepping out of comfort zones that never quite fit, like a shirt that’s just a little too tight, the kind you keep blaming on a bloated stomach or a “bad day,” when really, it never fit at all.
The fear of not fitting in , the worry about what everyone thinks , the “Am I crazy?” thoughts… I chose me . I reminded myself that those thoughts? They’re just that - thoughts. And thoughts can change. Negative Nelly? Pack your bags. I’ve gone so deep into the wild, I can’t even see the city lights anymore.
Now comes the “choose your own adventure” part - yes, I’m showing my age, but remember those books? You’d reach the bottom of a page and choose: Does Maja take the shiny, well-travelled path everyone expects her to? Or the quiet, overlooked dirt road, the one that feels boring at first but secretly leads to exactly where you’re meant to be?
Cut to today- the road changes, and in comes the newest addition to the WildKind collection: Emergence 🦋.
If you caught my last email, you’ll know I worked tirelessly before the school holidays so I could take two weeks off with my family. I didn’t ask permission - I wrote my own permission slip. And the freedom of that choice reminded me: when you want something enough, you are fully capable of making it happen.
Of course, a break without a little painting isn’t really a break. But this time, it was different - pure joy, no purpose, just play. And then I noticed: butterflies 🦋. All kinds of butterflies. Without even realizing it, my subconscious was telling the WildKind story again, and I had to bring it to life.
This story - my story - is one of transformation. Over the past year, I’ve been working on my passion, building something to share fearlessly, and learning to trust myself again. Emerging from challenges stronger and freer, it’s been a journey of courage, self-discovery, and becoming who I truly am.
Emergence embodies that journey: starting in a cocoon of comfort and stepping out as the butterfly, I was born to be. Fragile yet empowered, free, with the scent of new beginnings on the horizon.
